The FloraBama is not destroyed !! -
Long live the Bama!

The Washington Post says:"The beach itself has been relocated to
the dance floor of the Flora-Bama Lounge, a
musty, grimy, wondrous roadhouse that sits on
the border of the two states. The lounge,
which has hosted headliners as diverse as Kid
Rock and Hank Williams Jr., is so beloved that
word of its possible demise was greeted with
almost as much dismay as the persistence of
power outages and the endless waits for ice
and water. The sand rises halfway to the
ceiling -- and what a ceiling it is: covered
with dollar bills and dangling bras placed
there in happier, raunchier times.
But despite the transformation, the annual
interstate mullet toss will live again, the
regulars said Friday as they ducked into the
sagging hulk that was -- and is sure to be
again -- Perdido Key's best-known landmark.
"We party hard," said Paul Bell, a maintenance
man so loyal that he stayed at the bar during
the storm. "Don't worry. We'll make it bigger
and better."

From Wayne:
I received
what I consider the highest compliment, to date,
as a musician several weeks ago through an e-mail
and thought it was important to share it with you.
It wasn't the compliment that got to me as much as
what it stands for. This e-mail was a harsh
reminder that as I go through my every day rituals
I can not forget what is happening in the lives of
our American soldiers each and every day.
In receiving this message, it truly
touched my heart
to know that music can, in some magical way,
briefly give someone piece of mind while they
dream of home. This gives me more
encouragement than ever to keep after the business
of making music. Thank you Kevin.
Below is the first e-mail Kevin Eads wrote to me
and we have stayed in touch almost every week
since. Please pray for Kevin and all of our
soldiers every night. God Bless America.
|
Dear Wayne,
I first heard your music at Harry's bar while at college at the
University of Alabama. It quickly became a Tuesday
night ritual. My friends and I always enjoyed
crazy buckets and singing along. I am
now a marine serving in Iraq with 1st Force Recon
Co. I brought a couple of your CDs with me. Now
all these Cali boys understand the term great
southern Rock. They love your music now as much as
us Redneck boys do. Your songs always take
me back to a much simpler time and place, and for
that I thank you. During down time I put on my
headphones and just drift away. I should be
state side in a few months and hope to catch a
show in Bama. I know you're busy but I just
thought you would like to know your music is now
officially international and also Recon approved.
We are givin' em' hell here. Hope your doin'
the same.
Sincerely,
Kevin Eads

Wayne Mills Makes Debut
at Historic Ryman Auditorium
|
|
Alabama born and bred, southern rockers of outlaw country -
Wayne Mills Band - play their first Fan Fair as special
guests of the Country Music Association and
What A Trip. Lead singer and
founder Wayne Mills will join Linda Davis ("Does He
Love You"), Billy Currington ("Walk A Little
Straighter"), Josh Turner ("Long Black Train"), and
hit songwriter Jim Collins ("She Thinks My Tractor's
Sexy") for a very special acoustic performance on the stage
of the Ryman Auditorium on Friday, June 11, 2004. |
We played the Ryman auditorium (original
grand ole opry house) for the first
time. We got to stay in the Minnie
Pearle dressing room. Pretty cool.
We've been talking to Jimmie Johnson.
He produced several of Lynyrd Skynyrd's
albums as well as The Rolling Stones,
Aretha Franklin and a school of other
legendary acts.. He heard us play in
Nashville and wants to produce our next
cd. He said we reminded him of Skynyrd
the first time he heard them play.
He also added that he thought we were a cross between Skynyrd and Charlie Daniels.
That's HUGE! Thanks for the compliment
Jimmy. Keep your fingers crossed
for us.

| Wayne Mills Band Signs
Management
Deal/Performs Showcase
According to Wayne Mills, "We did a show at 12th and Porter the night before the Music City Bowl. This night would be the biggest of WMB's career thus far. To our great fortune, we had some special guests attend: Mark Ivey, Ramona Simmons and Preston Sullivan sat and watched the entire show before offering what would soon become our first big break. Turns out, these fine folks are connected out the yin-yang.
| It didn't take long and we all came to an agreement. That's right, a contract was on the table...I signed it. We have a three year contract with Mark and Ramona as our new managers. I also signed with BMI and started a publishing company with Preston. We're off to the races ladies and gentleman! Wish us luck!" -WM |

123
jinks!
It's a great
week for car accidents. Three days
after Wayne's accident, Trey Evans
(keyboards) was involved in an accident on
I-65 while traveling home from a show in
Mississippi. Trey was rear-ended which
resulted in a painful case of
whip-lash. He's doing fine but has to
sit while he plays now. I bet he'll
watch his back side from now on! We
wish him a speedy recovery.

nabs UA junior as fulltime bassist
The
Crimson White - Carla Jean Whitley
Musicians often spend years opening for larger acts, working hard before developing a following of their own. Rarely does someone step into a position where fans already know the music they're playing - but that is just what happened to 21-year-old Jason Parker.Parker, who would be in his junior year at the University, is the new bassist for the Wayne Mills Band.
